Looking for a family session that is more than just your immediate family? Perhaps a bunch of your siblings are coming into town and the whole family is getting together for the first time in a while. I am now offering extended family photography sessions that are about two hours long and capture a TON of the different groups in your extended family! Most of these sessions include:
- Grandparents
- Siblings
- Immediate Families
- Children
- Cousin Groups
- Sibling Groups
- Grandparents with Grandkids
- Moms and Dads with their kids
- Full extended family
I try to get a bunch of different groups during these sessions, and you will have a lot of memories to print and share! Some reasons that I love these extended family generational photos:
1. Preserve Family History
Generational family photos capture the essence of your family’s groups, creating a visual timeline that preserves your family history. Remember when the kids are small! Remember these cousin groups! These portraits serve as cherished heirlooms, and you can look back on them and see how the full family has grown over time.
2. Celebrate Milestones Together
Large group sessions are perfect for commemorating significant family milestones, such as anniversaries, reunions, or birthdays. They provide an opportunity to gather everyone together and celebrate these moments, creating lasting memories that can be shared and reminisced upon for years to come. Some of the families that I work with also plan a big family dinner after the session, which is a fun way to continue the family bonding 🙂
3. Strengthen Family Bonds
Gathering multiple generations for a photo session helps strengthen family bonds. The experience of coming together, sharing stories, and creating memories during the session fosters a sense of unity and connection among family members, reinforcing the importance of family ties. Cousin groups! Sibling groups! Grandparents with the kiddos! We will get it all 🙂
4. Capture Diverse Relationships
Generational family portraits beautifully showcase the diverse relationships within a family. From grandparents and their grandchildren to siblings and cousins, these sessions highlight the unique connections and dynamics that exist within your family, capturing the love and affection shared among all members.
5. Split the session and get family minis
I work with each individual family unit for a ‘family mini’ during these large sessions, too, so you’ll have no only those big extended groups, but you’ll get individual family attention and pictures of the kids. It’s a win all around, AND your family can split the session rate to make it super easy to reserve.
