As I roll into 2025, I’m thinking of all of the smaller, more intimate weddings that will inevitably pop up over the next coming months. My smaller weddings usually ahve a shorter timeline in planning because there are not huge guest lists and my couples want soething more private.
What’s one of my favorite, favorite, FAVORITE venues for small weddings here in the Pittsburgh area? The Hyeholde Restaurant!!
Where is the Hyeholde Restaurant located?
The Hyeholde is located in Coraopolis, which is a suburb of Pittsburgh near to Robinson Town Center. It can be accessed from the highway, Route 376 West and it is an easy venue to locate for wedding guests. In addition, the Hyeholde is located near to the Pittsburgh International Airport, so guests from out of town can stay in a nearby hotel without having to cross through all of Pittsburgh metro area.
Where are weddings at the Hyeholde held?
If you choose to have your wedding ceremony at the Hyeholde, one of the best locations is on the open green lawn area immediately to the left of the main building. The bride can be tucked away in the trees (it’s open enough – not like you’re hiking in the woods!) while guests are seated in the open lawn space on chairs. This area has a rounded tuft of woods that surround it on all sides, so it feels intimate yet beautiful at the same time. There is also great light in this wedding ceremony space – its certainly a favorite!
Wedding receptions and dinners are held in the Round Room, which is to the side and rear of the Hyeholde Restaurant. Although you have to descend stairs from the main building, this room is by no means on a basement level. The landscaping of the area means that the Round Room has large, beautiful glass windows that look into the scenic location from the lower level. It’s gorgeous! The Round Room can hold around 50 guests (best to ask Hyeholde management on their exact numbers) and has a bar on the same level for guests to grab a glass of celebratory champagne.
What is the aesthetic and vibe of weddings at the Hyeholde Restaurant?
Nothing short of a Fairytale! This venue is so magical because if it’s special charm. You’d never expect such beautiful landscaping and scenery in this area of Pittsburgh. It’s truly a surprise from the time you enter the property! The main restaurant building looks like a quaint fairytale castle, all while staying classic and timeless. It’s the perfect mix of whimsy and classic storybook love.
Where can you take wedding photos at the Hyeholde?
I typically like to start my couple at the end of the driveway, as there is a pretty sign for the restaurant and gate that photographs nicely. Then, we get great ‘walking photos’ as we make our way back toward the restaurant. The reflections on the Round Room windows are always fun to play with, and there is a carved-in-the-hillside rotunda that is magical and interesting right next to the Round Room as well. On top of that, all of the lush greenery makes for a magical approach with a natural feel.
Closer to the restaurant, on a rainy day I like to photograph my couple in the valet pull-through, since it still pulls in the scenery and the stonework fo the building. Finally, any photos at the main entrance of the building bring that fairytale scenery to life, since the restaurant looks like a small village castle! Inside the main doors, the chandelier and staircase can also be used in cases of rainy days.
There are so many walkable locations for wedding photos at the Hyeholde – you can’t go wrong!
How can I plan my wedding at the Hyeholde?
First – you’ll want to reach out to the catering manager and mention that you learned about the Hyeholde from my website and want more information on a ceremony on the lawn and a reception dinner in the Round Room. From there, you’ll choose your dinner menu and need to hire a photographer (me!) and have a plan for music. Some of my couples will hire a DJ, while others will opt for a simple use of the sound system. You can go as fancy or as laid back as you’d like!
