Proposals are always filled with excitement and joy, and this one at Simmons Farm in Pittsburgh’s South Hills was especially memorable. With rows of colorful flowers stretching out in every direction, the farm’s flower fields made the perfect backdrop for such a meaningful moment.

To keep the surprise intact, I needed to be a little sneaky. I blended right in by pretending to be there to cut a bouquet from the flower fields—camera tucked away and clippers in hand. It worked perfectly, and when the moment came, he dropped to one knee with the most beautiful setting all around them. Her reaction said it all—completely surprised, completely thrilled, and completely in love.

And the bonus for me? (Besides kneeling on a bee and getting stung – OUCH) I left with a fresh bouquet of flowers after the proposal! It’s not every day you get to photograph one of the happiest moments in a couple’s life and head home with something pretty for your own kitchen table.

After the big “yes,” we walked through the flower fields capturing portraits that showed off both their excitement and the beauty of the farm. Simmons Farm is such a wonderful spot for proposals—not only does it offer an incredibly romantic atmosphere, but it also feels personal and tucked away, giving couples a little extra privacy for the occasion.

If you’re planning to propose in Pittsburgh, consider the charm of Simmons Farm. Between the flower fields, orchards, and natural scenery, it’s a dreamy location for celebrating the start of forever.

📷 Planning your own surprise proposal? I’d love to help capture it all! I’ll work with you behind the scenes, blend right in, and make sure every detail is beautifully photographed so you can just focus on the question that matters most.
