Baylee and David’s winter wedding at Southpointe Golf Club was a true standout — not just for its elegant details and beautiful couple but also for the perfect weather, which is a rarity in Pittsburgh during a late December wedding. The weather, which soared to a surprising 60°F with plenty of sunshine, gave everyone the kind of warmth and light you’d expect during spring, making it feel like a dream come true for the couple and their guests.
Located in the scenic South Hills of Pittsburgh, Southpointe Golf Club has long been one of my favorite venues to photograph, and this wedding proved why it’s so special. From the start of the day to the last dance of the evening, everything was picture-perfect — a truly memorable celebration of love, family, and the holiday season.
Preparing for the Big Day at Hyatt Meadowlands
The day began with Baylee and David getting ready at the Hyatt Meadowlands, a stylish and conveniently located hotel in the heart of Pittsburgh’s South Hills. Situated just off Route 79, it was easily accessible for their wedding guests, who were traveling from all over. The hotel’s spacious rooms provided the perfect setting for the couple to prepare for their special day.
As I walked into Baylee’s suite, I was immediately struck by how thoughtfully planned the details of the day were. Baylee had chosen red as her wedding color, and it was incorporated into every detail, from the rich red roses in her bouquet to the delicate red velvet ring box. It all came together beautifully, creating a romantic and festive vibe that was perfect for a winter wedding.
One of the most special moments of the morning was when Baylee shared some intimate, emotional time with her mother as they prepared. Baylee is her mother’s only daughter, and you could feel the excitement and joy they shared as they both got ready for this momentous occasion. It was such a touching moment to capture before heading to the ceremony.
A Christmas-Inspired Ceremony at Corpus Christi Parish
Baylee and David’s ceremony was held at Corpus Christi Parish, also known as Holy Child Church, in Bridgeville. This church holds a special place in my heart, as I had been a parishioner there myself when I lived in the South Hills. It’s a beautiful church with stunning architecture that provides the perfect backdrop for weddings, and for this December wedding, it was especially magical.
The church was decorated with a holiday touch — vibrant red poinsettias were placed around the altar, adding to the Christmas cheer and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. There was something about the red flowers and the soft glow of the candlelight that made the ceremony feel both intimate and festive. It felt as though the church had been transformed into a cozy winter wonderland, perfectly complementing the couple’s vision for their wedding.
After the ceremony, we took family portraits just outside the church, making the most of the beautiful stone architecture that is a hallmark of Pittsburgh’s historic buildings. The late afternoon sunlight peeked through the trees, casting a soft glow on the couple and their loved ones. With the holidays in the air and the picturesque setting, these portraits will undoubtedly be cherished for years to come.
Romantic Photos at Southpointe Golf Club
Once the ceremony concluded, it was time to head over to Southpointe Golf Club for wedding party portraits and a few special moments with Baylee and David. This venue offers breathtaking views of the golf course and plenty of spaces to capture stunning photos. The moment we arrived, we were greeted with such great hospitality by the venue’s staff, who went above and beyond to accommodate us.
One of the most memorable parts of the photoshoot was using the late afternoon light. That warm, golden glow that you only get during the winter months is perfect for creating dreamy, romantic portraits. We took some beautiful shots on the course, capturing Baylee and David as they enjoyed each other’s company. It was clear how happy they were to be surrounded by their closest family and friends, and I was so grateful to be able to document these intimate moments.
Interestingly, the golf club had to take golf carts out of storage for us because they hadn’t anticipated needing them for a winter wedding! It was a fun, unexpected moment, but it worked out perfectly. We used the carts to take Baylee and David to the best spots on the course, where we took some gorgeous photos overlooking the fairways and greens.
Classic Portraits & Timeless Details
After the golf course portraits, we wrapped up with a few final shots near the Southpointe Golf Club clock. The clock is one of the venue’s signature features and adds a timeless touch to any wedding held there. It’s a classic element that symbolizes the passing of time and the beginning of a couple’s new journey together, making it an ideal backdrop for wedding photos.
The reception space at Southpointe was equally stunning. The red roses arranged by Memories & Bloom were a perfect complement to the venue’s elegant décor. The deep red tones, along with the soft lighting, created an atmosphere that was both romantic and festive. As guests entered the ballroom, they were treated to a beautiful display of florals and a warm, welcoming vibe that set the tone for the rest of the evening.
Dancing the Night Away
After the formal portraits and dinner, it was time for the fun to begin! DJ Andrew Smith did an incredible job keeping the energy high all night long. The dance floor was packed from start to finish, with Baylee and David leading the charge and their guests following suit. I had so much fun capturing candid moments of friends and family dancing, laughing, and celebrating the couple’s new life together. It was the kind of night where everyone was in high spirits, and the party didn’t slow down until the very last song.
A Winter Wedding to Remember
Looking back on Baylee and David’s winter wedding at Southpointe Golf Club, it’s clear that this was a day filled with love, joy, and unforgettable memories. From the beautiful ceremony at Corpus Christi Parish to the stunning portraits on the golf course, every detail came together to create a truly magical experience. It was an honor to be part of their special day, and I can’t wait to see where life takes them next.
