One of the things I love most about newborn photography is capturing a baby’s first days in the comfort of their own home. For this Pittsburgh family, that meant a sweet in-home newborn session in the Point Breeze neighborhood, just outside of Shadyside. Their house was filled with natural light, quiet moments, and all the love of two brand-new parents welcoming their little one.

When I arrived, I brought along a few items from my studio to create some posed newborn portraits. These simple setups allowed us to capture those classic sleepy baby images that everyone loves, while still keeping things easy and relaxed for mom and dad.

Afterward, we photographed them in the nursery for more lifestyle baby photos. These are some of my favorite moments—snuggles by the window, parents cradling their newborn, and the little details that make their space unique. The soft light and personal touches of their home made the images feel so warm and authentic. I love photographing newborns in homes with tons of natural light. That’s a great way to get this ethereal feel, but we also worked in …. one room! It’s not like your entire home needs to be mangazine-worthy to get this look 🙂
An in-home newborn session is a wonderful option for families who want beautiful photographs without leaving the house in those early days. It’s cozy, natural, and allows me to capture your family in the place where you’re making your very first memories together.

If you’re looking for an in-home newborn photographer in Pittsburgh, whether you’re in Point Breeze, Shadyside, or anywhere nearby Pittsburgh, I’d love to help you capture these fleeting moments.
